The history of Orange Wings is inseparably combined with the one of a large company located in Lower Austria. A company furnishing cruise liners, yachts and luxury hotels all over the world, is situated in a small village in Lower Austria, 45 minutes south of Vienna and therefore requires mobility of it’s employees. Due to this frequent work-related overnight stays in hotels, you start to ask yourself how you want to sleep if you are not at home.
Once a widely-travelled employee said with a certain undertone:
"There are hotels which are golden. You can expect caviar on your room when you arrive and the name of the hotel is engraved on every free square centimetre. Others are dark green, stag’s antlers cover the ceiling and the landlady herself serves dinner. Though, if you arrive after 10 p.m. it might happen that you are not warmly welcomed or not even let in. On the other hand there are hotels which are white. The atmosphere is almost sterile and only the check-in takes half an hour. If I am away on business, I’d rather have a place to stay in orange!"
"Why orange?" his colleagues asked:
"Orange means to me: easy, uncomplicated, modern and good quality. I want to arrive when it suits me and I want to leave when it suits me. I want to work in my room and use the internet but also relax and watch TV. I don’t want to pay maximum prices but on the other hand don’t want to search for bath room and toilet on the corridor. Such a beautiful modern uncomplicated orange hotel should finally be built."
After all the whole company thought that everyone would like to live orange and that resulted in the new innovative overnight concept. Since the first draft of the architect made the hotel look like flying away it has been called "Orange Wings" – for now and for all time. It is that simple!
